About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Packaging Process Artisan to operate, monitor, and maintain packaging processes while ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Operating and Process Control:
- Operate the process area according to work instructions and usage standards.
- Conduct required quality checks and record results accurately.
- Monitor waste trends, record waste on appropriate systems, and identify improvement opportunities.
- Review process performance against targets and complete short interval control documentation.
- Respond quickly to upstream or downstream process triggers that may cause stoppages.
- Apply problem-solving techniques as per the work practice guidelines.
- Perform housekeeping tasks following 5S principles and safe work practices.
- Identify and correct unsafe work practices and assist team members in task execution.
- Uphold a culture of quality and food safety, taking ownership of systems and processes.
Maintenance of Plant and Equipment:
- Carry out cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of machines according to schedules and work instructions.
- Perform routine maintenance activities and escalate unresolved issues to the team leader.
- Participate in maintenance and cleaning days, including post-mortem reviews.
- Monitor trends during routine maintenance and take corrective action as required, involving maintenance support if necessary.
Quality Control and Analysis:
- Conduct non-destructive quality checks as outlined in work instructions.
- Record results on the relevant documentation or information systems.
- Identify and resolve quality issues where possible, escalating unresolved problems to the team leader.
Communication:
- Actively participate in shift meetings, contribute suggestions, and ask questions to clarify understanding.
- Use the gap list to record issues, problems, and improvement opportunities.
- Understand and contribute to team goals, participating in goal review sessions.
- Utilize communication tools such as shift logbooks to stay informed and update colleagues.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement:
- Apply appropriate techniques to identify and correct problems, involving team members or escalating if needed.
- Verify that resolved problems do not reoccur.
- Use run/control charts, trend analysis, and tools such as Pareto charts to identify sources of waste and variation.
- Record and evaluate improvement opportunities, engaging team members and specialists as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- N4 Qualification in Mechanical or Electrical.
- Trade Test in Mechanical or Electrical.
