About the Program
Flysafair Careers is seeking a dedicated Ramp Agent to support safe, efficient, and on-time aircraft turnarounds while delivering seamless ground operations.
Job Description
The Ramp Agent is responsible for coordinating ramp and ground operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and on-time performance, including but not limited to:
- Ensuring full compliance with safety regulations related to Dangerous Goods at all times
- Maintaining general safety and security around the aircraft during ground operations
- Liaising between flight crew and ground handling teams to obtain boarding clearance
- Monitoring the loading and offloading of baggage and cargo
- Communicating load changes to ground handling partners promptly
- Coordinating effective aircraft turnarounds and minimizing delays by ensuring all handling agents and service providers are in place for arrivals
- Conducting ramp safety audits when required
- Ensuring ramp vehicles are clean, serviceable, and fueled
- Arranging crew transportation as required
- Monitoring flight operations to support on-time performance targets
- Allocating and recording delays when applicable
- Assisting with crew requests, including coordinating cabin cleaning, water services, and lavatory servicing
- Ensuring all service providers are present per flight requirements, including airport authorities and fuel handlers
- Conducting ad hoc inspections within the baggage handling areas
- Performing any additional duties delegated by the senior on duty
- Coordinating support for heavy or oversized equipment and cargo, including motorized wheelchairs
- Ensuring adequate staffing levels in line with SLA requirements
- Conducting FOD checks and reporting any irregular or unsafe activities related to flight operations
- Coordinating disrupted operations and recovery actions
- Monitoring ramp and passenger service KPIs, including boarding gate closure times and equipment positioning
- Completing ramp agent documentation for every flight
- Compiling incident and irregularity reports when required
- Liaising with multiple departments and stations to ensure operational alignment
- Coordinating with relevant stakeholders to achieve on-time departures
Job Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an airline or aviation environment, including Passenger Services, Ramp Services, or Baggage Handling
- Valid Code 08 driver’s licence
- No criminal record
- Sound airside knowledge and understanding of airport operations
- Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to multitask and delegate effectively
- Computer literacy
- Customer-oriented mindset
