Sales Representative – Value Logistics

Purpose of the Job
The Sales Representative is responsible for identifying, recruiting, and growing key customers across the Free State region, including spaza shops, forecourts, and wholesalers. The role focuses on building strategic relationships, driving sales and margin growth, and managing customer accounts to ensure timely payments and long-term business retention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and recruit new customers within the assigned region, meeting monthly and quarterly acquisition targets
  • Maintain and expand the existing customer base to achieve or exceed sales volume and margin objectives
  • Build and nurture strong customer relationships through regular contact and high service standards
  • Manage customer credit to ensure debtor days remain within agreed limits and achieve on-time payment targets
  • Conduct regular customer visits and calls, including order-taking and presenting new products
  • Monitor, record, and report customer feedback to management for continuous improvement
  • Deliver excellent customer service by resolving queries within agreed turnaround times
  • Execute business strategies, including marketing campaigns and promotional activities, tracking performance against objectives

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ sales experience within the FMCG sector
  • Proven track record of success as a sales representative
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and mobile sales tools

  • In-depth knowledge of the FMCG market and its dynamics
  • Strong selling and negotiation skills with a proven ability to close deals
  • High resilience and persistence to achieve targets
  • Active listening skills to understand customer needs and concerns
