Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Senior Cashier to support exceptional customer service at the point of sale while delivering a world-class shopping experience. The role is responsible for accurately recording customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system in line with company policies and standard operating procedures, ensuring zero tolerance for inaccuracies and minimising fraud risk.
Minimum Requirements
Essential

Grade 12 / Matric
-
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in cashier or till operations
-
Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office
-
Strong numerical ability
-
Excellent command of the English language
-
Basic customer service skills
-
Willing and able to work retail hours
Key Responsibilities

Adhere to Dis-Chem customer service policies and procedures

Build and maintain professional relationships with customers

Report customer compliments and complaints to the Frontline Supervisor or management

Meet customer turnover per hour targets

Remain informed of current promotions and sales activities

Ensure a safe environment for customers and colleagues

Apply Dis-Chem 5-star communication principles consistently

Manage and control cash flow responsibly

Ensure all line voids and price changes are authorised and signed off

Process exchanges and returns in accordance with company guidelines

Accurately process all payment methods accepted by Dis-Chem

Manage loyalty and rewards programmes in line with company standards

Ensure cash is secured in the drop safe according to SOPs
-
Protect system access by safeguarding personal login credentials

Confirm all outgoing items are scanned and paid for

Maintain strict control and security of cash within the till

Handle daily takings confidentially and report discrepancies to management

Identify and report suspicious behaviour promptly

Assist customers with queries related to store merchandise

Comply with all Dis-Chem security policies and procedures
