Job Purpose
The Tax & Reporting Accountant is responsible for managing tax compliance, financial reporting, and ERP optimization within the finance department. This role involves preparing statutory financial statements, direct tax returns, and reporting packs, while supporting the Finance Manager in the overall management of finance operations.
Key Responsibilities
IFRS Reporting
- Prepare monthly general journals and income/deferred tax journals.
- Assist with quarterly, half-year, and year-end deliverables, including Board reporting.
- Prepare subsidiary statutory financial statements.
Budgets and Forecasts
- Prepare balance sheets for forecasts and budgets.
- Compile budgeted cash flow statements and cash flow forecasts.
Tax Reporting and Administration
- Maintain and review the Wear & Tear register for completeness and accuracy.
- Prepare provisional tax calculations for all South African entities.
- Respond to SARS tax queries and reconcile tax GL accounts.
- Maintain all SA Group tax opinions and e-filing profiles.
- Prepare tax returns for all SA entities and ensure overall tax compliance (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax).
General Finance Responsibilities
- Prepare quarterly and annual SARB reports.
- Act as ERP champion to drive automation and process optimization in finance.
- Support finance-related projects and initiatives.
- Assist the Finance Manager in overall finance department management and year-end financial audit deliverables.
- Maintain banking administration and profiles.
Qualifications and Experience
- CA (SA) qualification.
- Minimum 2 years’ relevant working experience.
- Strong IFRS knowledge and experience.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office.
- In-depth knowledge of group accounts and consolidations.
- Strong interest and experience in tax compliance and administration.
