Job Description

The Technician – Banking is responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, and commissioning of electronic security systems at commercial and industrial premises. This role covers a wide range of security technologies, ensuring high-quality workmanship, system reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, wire, commission, and maintain electronic security systems including alarms, access control, CCTV, and fire detection systems

  • Program security systems according to technical specifications and client requirements

  • Plan and execute cable routes in coordination with wiremen

  • Perform fault-finding, diagnostics, and system repairs

  • Install and maintain electric fencing and integrated security solutions

  • Implement smart CCTV solutions, including advanced analytics such as line crossing and facial recognition

  • Integrate intruder alarms, CCTV, and electric fencing systems

  • Set up and maintain wireless, fibre, and copper network infrastructure

  • Install and maintain basic electrical systems including DB boards, inverters, UPS units, and generators

  • Support and oversee large-scale security projects, including system design and implementation

  • Provide IT and network support related to security installations

  • Install and maintain access control systems including biometric, UHF, facial recognition, and card-based solutions

  • Obtain required customer codes prior to attending service calls and standby duties

  • Complete system handovers and ensure client understanding of installed solutions

  • Accurately complete job cards after each installation or service call

  • Provide timely feedback to management and the call centre upon completion of tasks

  • Maintain accurate stock records and assist with stock takes

  • Ensure company vehicle cleanliness and submit petrol slips as required

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Matric or equivalent qualification

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an electronic security technician

  • Proven experience in programming, wiring, installations, and fault finding

  • Valid Code 08 driver’s licence

  • PSIRA registration, Grade C

Technical Skills

  • Installation and programming of alarm systems including Ajax, Paradox, Texecom, Caddx, IDS, DSC, Rhino, and Risco

  • Experience with electric fencing systems

  • Proficiency in advanced CCTV and surveillance technologies

  • Strong understanding of integrated security systems

  • Solid networking and IT support skills
