Tyre Maintenance Controller – Value Logistics

About the Program
Value Logistics is seeking a hands-on Tyre Maintenance Controller to support fleet reliability by conducting routine tyre maintenance, breakdown support, and tyre surveys across operational sites.

Purpose of the Job
The Tyre Maintenance Controller is responsible for travelling to various sites to perform tyre surveys, routine maintenance, and breakdown support for the Value Logistics vehicle fleet, ensuring safety, compliance, and optimal tyre performance.

Key Responsibilities

Stock Control

• Secure and lock tyre stock at all times
• Investigate and report stock discrepancies daily
• Support monthly cycle counts

Tyre Surveys

• Travel to sites as required to conduct tyre surveys and maintenance
• Prioritise surveys based on the fleet list provided by the supervisor
• Capture tyre survey data daily on the tyre management system or manual documentation when systems are offline
• Record accurate details including brand numbers, wheel positions, tyre pressures, and tread depth readings
• Ensure all vehicles and spare wheels are surveyed monthly
• Report missing spare wheels to the supervisor
• Mark spare wheel rims for easy identification
• Torque wheel nuts and ensure wheel nut indicators are fitted
• Fit missing wheel nut indicators where required
• Photograph scrap tyres and submit images to the supervisor
• Provide daily feedback on vehicles surveyed, tyre issues identified, and productivity

Branding of Tyres

• Report tyres without brand numbers
• Brand tyres according to the approved listing

Tyre Replacement

• Identify and replace worn, punctured, or damaged tyres in line with SOPs
• Complete tyre change slips accurately and on time
• Submit tyre change slips daily to the supervisor

Tyre Rotations

• Rotate tyres according to tread matching requirements
• Complete and submit tyre change slips accurately and daily

Breakdowns

• Ensure the breakdown vehicle is stocked with correct tyre sizes and quantities
• Attend tyre-related breakdowns promptly and with urgency
• Comply with all driving regulations while responding to breakdowns
• Complete breakdown reports and tyre change documentation
• Return damaged tyres to the depot and hand over tyres and documentation to the supervisor

Company Equipment & Assets

• Secure tyre maintenance tablets when not in use and at end of shift
• Complete daily vehicle checklists and submit for filing
• Ensure vehicles are parked and locked when not in use
• Hand in vehicle keys to the supervisor for secure storage after each shift
• Report vehicle accidents and damage immediately
• Ensure tools and equipment are in working order
• Submit weekly tyre bay tool checklists
• Report defective tools to the supervisor

Housekeeping

• Maintain a clean and tidy work area and company vehicle

Health & Safety

• Adhere to all health and safety rules and regulations
• Use correct PPE at all times
• Report health and safety risks and near misses immediately

General Compliance

• Adhere to SOPs, training requirements, HR policies, POPIA policies, dress code, smoking policy, and attendance standards
• Support additional operational requirements as needed
• Be available for weekend work when required

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Code B driver’s licence
• 1–2 years’ heavy-duty tyre experience
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects
