About the Role

Sab Vacancies is seeking an experienced and results-driven Warehouse Controller to oversee warehouse operations, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, manage inventory accuracy, optimize costs, and lead continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires strong leadership, operational control, financial oversight, and cross-functional collaboration to support business performance and supply chain excellence.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Excellence Program

  • Ensure full implementation and compliance with VPO and DPO Excellence Programs.

Safety Management

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and all relevant safety legislation.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate operational hazards.
  • Collaborate with Fleet and Safety teams to ensure forklift maintenance schedules are followed.
  • Analyze safety performance trends and implement improvement actions.
  • Lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and implement preventive measures.
  • Develop CAPEX plans to enhance warehouse safety.
  • Oversee onboarding and training of new and existing employees.
  • Ensure warehouse emergency preparedness at all times.

Quality Management

  • Ensure compliance with VPO and DPO quality standards and GOPs.
  • Oversee product quality induction programs.
  • Ensure adherence to FEFO, batch management, and expiry date controls across inbound and outbound logistics.
  • Maintain compliance with freshness and rotation policies.
  • Coordinate with quality teams for quarantine, inspection, and release of goods.
  • Track and analyze quality trends, implement corrective actions, and improve related KPIs.

Supply Chain Overhead (SCOH) Management

  • Ensure ERP transactions accurately reflect all logistics loss points.
  • Reduce supply chain overheads using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Enforce gate control SOPs for inbound and outbound loads to minimize losses.
  • Optimize forklift management and permit-to-work processes.
  • Manage supplier performance against SLA agreements.
  • Ensure 5S compliance within warehouse operations.
  • Support implementation of LCA audit requirements.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage warehouse budgets and forecasts.
  • Control expenditure within approved budgets.
  • Minimize overtime, contractor, and temporary labor usage within legislative requirements.
  • Authorize expenses in line with procurement policies.
  • Monitor general ledger accounts weekly and analyze monthly financial performance.
  • Identify financial optimization opportunities.
  • Ensure adherence to Procurement-to-Payment processes.

People Management

  • Develop team capability through coaching, IDPs, training, and performance management.
  • Maintain effective leave, attendance, and shift management systems.
  • Foster positive industrial relations and a collaborative working environment.
  • Ensure employees are informed about policies, procedures, and business updates.
  • Promote cross-functional learning and teamwork.

Stock Control

  • Ensure daily stock counts are completed and variances investigated and resolved.
  • Conduct full monthly stock counts in line with requirements.
  • Mitigate obsolescence risks and manage inventory-related KPIs including stock accuracy and inventory turnover.
  • Drive reduction in supply chain overheads through continuous improvement initiatives.

Inbound and Outbound Logistics

  • Manage delivery schedules and escalate risks proactively.
  • Ensure outbound planning supports warehouse capacity and service levels.
  • Monitor and improve KPIs including OTIF and related performance indicators.
  • Ensure reliable supply of materials to prevent production interruptions.
  • Resolve inventory discrepancies through root cause analysis and corrective action.

Operational Excellence

  • Manage daily warehouse priorities including picking, sorting, pallet repairs, and decanting.
  • Oversee packaging and brewing interface processes to ensure accurate loss reporting.
  • Ensure ERP accuracy for all loss points including breakages and returns.
  • Drive improvements in operational KPIs such as DOC, OTIF, WQI, and related performance measures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant 3-year Diploma or Degree
  • 3+ years’ experience in warehouse or logistics operations
  • Strong SAP proficiency and advanced computer literacy
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • High level of self-management and accountability
  • Strong results orientation
  • Ability to manage change effectively
  • Excellent coaching and leadership capability
