Warehouse Supervisor – Value Logistics

Purpose of the Role

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and controlling the full picking function and inventory management within the warehouse. This role manages both permanent and outsourced picking teams, ensuring adherence to processes, achievement of productivity targets, and accurate, timely order fulfillment. The position is key to maintaining operational efficiency, safety compliance, and delivering reliable, cost-effective service.

Key Responsibilities

Operations

• Supervise, support, and guide permanent and outsourced picking staff
• Maintain a disciplined, efficient, and well-controlled working environment
• Conduct daily team check-ins to monitor progress, productivity, and challenges
• Ensure all picking activities follow established processes and warehouse standards
• Verify system-driven picking and correct stock selection from designated locations
• Perform random checks to ensure accuracy of items and quantities
• Monitor and ensure productivity targets are consistently met
• Coordinate with warehouse planners to align picking with dispatch schedules
• Ensure timely completion of picking to prevent delays and additional costs
• Monitor equipment such as pallet jacks and scanners to ensure proper functionality
• Ensure all administrative processes are followed correctly
• Provide daily reports on productivity, accuracy, progress, and operational challenges
• Maintain accurate records of staff performance and process deviations

Warehouse Supervision

• Lead, train, and motivate warehouse picking teams
• Enforce company policies, health and safety regulations, and disciplinary procedures
• Conduct regular team meetings and toolbox talks
• Provide continuous feedback to improve performance and efficiency

Reporting and Documentation

• Prepare daily and weekly reports on productivity, accuracy, and inventory levels
• Track key performance indicators including order accuracy, picking timelines, and stock variances
• Maintain documentation required for internal and external audits

Health and Safety Compliance

• Ensure full compliance with occupational health and safety standards
• Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions
• Maintain a safe, clean, and hazard-free working environment

Housekeeping

• Ensure the warehouse remains clean, organized, and safe at all times
• Keep aisles, picking zones, and storage areas free of obstructions
• Enforce daily housekeeping schedules for all staff
• Monitor adherence to hygiene and safety standards, including waste disposal
• Conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve risks or cleanliness issues
• Ensure tools, equipment, and PPE are properly stored and maintained

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field (preferred)
• Experience in warehouse picking operations
• Previous supervisory or team leader experience

Skills Requirements

• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Knowledge of warehouse management systems, MS Office, and inventory control practices
• Good numerical and literacy skills
• Excellent planning and organizational abilities
• Strong process-driven and system-oriented mindset
