Workshop Manager – Value Logistics
Purpose of the Job
The Workshop Manager is responsible for maximising service, sales, and profitability by driving productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction across the workshop operations.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Management
- Supervise and coach staff to ensure a customer-focused environment
- Manage staff attendance, productivity, and efficiency
- Ensure adherence to dress code and PPE requirements
- Identify training and development needs
- Conduct performance appraisals and feedback sessions
- Hold regular staff meetings to communicate updates and expectations
Workshop Operations, Capacity Planning, and Work in Progress (WIP)
- Conduct daily WIP planning and monitor workshop productivity
- Coordinate with Service Advisors and Parts department to ensure parts availability
- Ensure vehicles are serviced according to OE service schedules and standards
- Optimise the use of workshop resources to maintain smooth operations
Customer Service Levels
- Keep internal and external customers informed of vehicle progress
- Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally
Workshop Administration
- Ensure accurate Embrace data input, including hour readings, job start/end dates, fault codes, and job types
- Adhere to all administration SOPs
- Accurately cost and close job cards
- Attach all required documents to job cards manually and electronically
- Manage monthly handover of job cards to the filing room
- Request and process quotations from preferred suppliers for outsourced jobs on time
- Sign off job cards as per company requirements
- Ensure all recovery billing is processed and invoiced correctly
Reports
- Pull and review open job card and purchase order reports daily
- Investigate discrepancies and ensure only WIP items remain open
- Submit required reports to management on time
Asset Management
- Manage and maintain all company assets
- Report any losses or damages to management
- Ensure asset disposal follows SOP and authority schedules
Recoveries and Warranty Claims
- Ensure correct recoveries and warranty processes are followed
Financials/Budget
- Manage workshops in a cost-effective manner within budget constraints
- Report on profit and loss as required
Quality Standards
- Ensure the workshop has the correct tools and equipment
- Conduct spot checks to maintain service standards
Apprentice Programme
- Manage the apprentice programme across all national workshops
General
- Maintain professional conduct at all times
- Assist with operational functions as required
- Follow company dress code and maintain daily housekeeping standards
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- 3–5 years of Workshop or Field Service Management experience
- Diesel mechanic qualification advantageous
Skills Required
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent organisational and planning abilities

- Knowledge of workshop operations, tools, and equipment
- Financial acumen and budget management skills
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and operational standards
