Team Leader: Underwriting

Purpose:
As a Team Leader at Old Mutual, you will lead a team of underwriting professionals, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures while managing risk underwriting for complex cases. You will oversee performance, drive automation, and ensure regulatory compliance to support the company’s financial and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwriting Oversight: Review and approve new business and renewal cases, escalating high-risk or complex cases as needed.
  • Process Improvement: Spearhead automation initiatives to enhance underwriting efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Risk Management: Safeguard the organization by enforcing risk mitigation strategies and compliance measures.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to legal and industry standards while addressing incidents and audits.
  • Team Leadership: Guide and motivate your team to align with Old Mutual’s mission, setting clear goals and performance targets.
  • Performance Management: Monitor team output, provide coaching, and implement development plans to build capabilities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with Sales and other teams to enhance service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage budgets and financial reporting while ensuring compliance with company policies.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of insurance industry experience, with leadership exposure.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Accounting qualification or experience (advantageous).
