Job Purpose
To execute and maintain Project Finance transactions with targeted clients in the Energy Sector within Nedbank CIB, with a career development goal toward origination and structuring. The Power & Renewables Finance team seeks professionals passionate about the energy transition and driven to close impactful transactions that shape the future of the sector.
Job Responsibilities
- Join front-office deal teams to execute and manage Project Finance transactions in the Energy Sector.
- Support Principals and Associate Principals in deal execution, due diligence, and client management.
- Assist in preparing internal committee submissions, credit papers, and client pitches (EOIs, term sheets, presentations, and pricing applications) by conducting technical, legal, and financial due diligence.
- Analyze financial, technical, and legal risks of energy projects, proposing risk mitigants in collaboration with advisors.
- Translate advisor reports (technical, legal, financial) into structured credit reports to support decision-making.
- Deliver high-quality credit papers on time by planning, researching, and preparing materials in advance.
- Develop expertise in power purchase agreements (PPAs), EPC, and O&M contracts within Project Finance frameworks.
- Review legal documents, ensuring alignment with approved term sheets and commercial agreements.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement by setting up client meetings, tracking requirements, and documenting discussions.
- Strengthen relationships with internal teams (credit, pricing, compliance, legal) and external partners (advisors, model auditors).
- Drive market research and present insights in clear, professional formats.
- Achieve performance targets by collaborating across teams to close transactions.
- Pursue professional growth through training, feedback, and timely completion of development plans.
Essential Qualifications
- Advanced Diplomas or National 1st Degrees in relevant fields.
Preferred Qualification
- Postgraduate qualifications (Honours/Masters)
- Admitted Attorney or Professional Engineer
- MBA
Essential Certifications
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering or Law
Minimum Experience Level
- 5–6 years in relevant industry roles, including:
- Banking (Project Finance or similar)
- Independent Power Producers or Developers
- Power Utilities
Technical / Professional Knowledge
- Business acumen, financial principles, and data analysis
- Governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance
- Proficiency in financial writing, research, and relevant software
