Tyre & Mechanical Assistant – Value Logistics

Purpose of the Job
The Tyre & Mechanical Assistant provides support with mechanical repairs, vehicle servicing, and tyre maintenance to ensure fleet safety and operational readiness. The role includes conducting tyre surveys, responding to roadside breakdowns, and maintaining workshop and washbay standards, ensuring vehicles are clean and roadworthy before leaving the depot.

Key Responsibilities

Tyre Maintenance and Support

• Strip, fit, and replace tyres as required

• Monitor and maintain correct tyre pressures

• Conduct tyre surveys and implement corrective actions

• Replace smooth or damaged tyres promptly

• Complete tyre change documentation accurately

• Torque wheel nuts to required specifications

• Maintain tyre stock levels and report shortages

• Respond to roadside tyre and mechanical breakdowns

Workshop and Mechanical Assistance

• Assist with mechanical repairs, servicing, maintenance, and breakdown support

• Support general workshop operations and daily functions

• Complete job cards, service schedules, and parts listings as required

• Assist with the control and management of spare parts and tyre stock

• Maintain cleanliness and order in the workshop, parts store, tyre bay, and washbay

• Assist with operational tasks as required

Washbay and Compliance

• Ensure vehicles are thoroughly washed and cleaned before dispatch

• Maintain professional conduct and comply with company dress code standards

• Uphold daily housekeeping standards across all work areas

• Ensure strict compliance with Health and Safety requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)

• Practical experience in mechanical and tyre-related work

Skills and Competencies

• Ability to apply basic Health and Safety procedures under supervision

• Ability to identify hazards and respond appropriately with guidance

• Strong teamwork and willingness to learn

• Attention to detail and reliability
