Job Overview
FlySafair is seeking a highly skilled Production Planner to support aircraft maintenance operations by ensuring effective planning, coordination, and execution of maintenance events. This role plays a critical part in optimizing downtime, improving production efficiency, and aligning cross-functional teams to meet operational and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Estimate and manage maintenance downtime for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance checks

• Coordinate with Production Control to facilitate survey pre-check and post-mortem meetings to improve maintenance processes

• Collaborate with Materials Planning to ensure required spares are available ahead of maintenance inputs

• Work closely with Maintenance Planners to verify work packages and resolve anomalies

• Develop, maintain, and manage long-term hangar planning activities

• Create and maintain Gantt charts and detailed production schedules for aircraft maintenance events and modification projects

• Liaise with maintenance, engineering, procurement, and quality assurance teams to ensure availability of labour, parts, and documentation

• Review work packages and engineering documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance

• Ensure work orders are compiled timeously and issued to MROs

• Monitor progress of heavy maintenance activities and proactively adjust schedules to mitigate delays or conflicts

• Assist Maintenance Planning with follow-ups on open tasks and outstanding work orders

• Track parts shortages, support procurement initiation, and escalate supply chain risks

• Generate production reports in collaboration with Production Control and provide regular stakeholder updates

• Participate in production meetings and communicate progress against planning milestones

• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and planning systems

• Maintain compliance with aviation regulations, company policies, and statutory requirements

• Identify non-compliance issues and implement corrective actions

• Analyse stakeholder needs and drive improvement initiatives

• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

• Coordinate with Maintenance Planning on scheduling requirements and required aircraft downtime

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in aircraft planning, production control, or aircraft maintenance

• Sound knowledge of aircraft documentation including MPD and OEM documentation

• Working knowledge of aviation regulations

Advantageous Qualifications and Experience

• Technical Diploma or aviation technical trade

• Qualification in project planning or project management

• Experience in project planning and management

• Experience working with MRO or technical maintenance systems
