Job Description
The Aircraft Performance System Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate flight planning, performance analysis, and compliance with regulatory and operational standards to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective flight operations.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare, validate, and manage Operational Flight Plans and Navigation Logs using approved flight planning systems.

Capture, verify, and maintain accurate records of all aircraft movements within the flight planning system.

Assess route feasibility to ensure compliance with regulatory authority requirements, international aviation standards, and company policies.

Monitor and analyse post-flight performance data to identify deviations, inefficiencies, trends, and potential safety concerns.

Configure, maintain, and support flight planning software, including applications used on Flight Crew iPads.

Evaluate and update fuel tankering strategies by considering fuel pricing, uplift limitations, and operational constraints.

Liaise with regulatory authorities, foreign civil aviation bodies, airports, and service providers to ensure statutory and operational compliance.

Coordinate with navigation data suppliers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely updates of navigation data.

Identify and report non-compliance, implementing corrective actions in line with SACAA and ICAO requirements.

Ensure all activities comply with statutory regulations, company standards, policies, and procedures.

Coordinate and monitor Navigation Training programmes for Flight Operations staff in line with regulatory and company requirements.

Provide ongoing support and knowledge transfer to flight crew and operations staff on navigation and flight planning tools.

Analyse internal and external stakeholder needs and recommend process, system, and performance improvements.

Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal departments and external service providers.

Implement remedial actions when service delivery or stakeholder expectations are not met.

Manage fair utilisation and coordination of shared navigation services between airlines.

Liaise with stakeholders to ensure reliable and cost-effective fuel supply.

Contribute to the Safety Management System by identifying risks, reporting hazards, and supporting corrective and preventative actions.

Analyse operational performance data to identify cost drivers and improvement opportunities in flight planning and navigation.

Support innovation, system optimisation, and technology enhancement initiatives.

Participate in fuel efficiency, optimisation, and sustainability projects.

Compile and distribute regular operational, compliance, and performance reports to management and relevant stakeholders.

Develop dashboards to monitor compliance with SACAA requirements and internal standards.
-
Provide analytical insights and recommendations to management based on operational trends and anomalies.
-
Support audit readiness by maintaining accurate, complete, and accessible records.
-
Track and analyse fuel uplift, burn, and usage trends to identify efficiency and sustainability opportunities.
Job Requirements

Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential).
-
Flight Operations Officer qualification (Essential).
-
Train the Trainer qualification (Essential).
-
Relevant Degree or Diploma (Advantageous).
-
Minimum of 5 years’ relevant aviation experience (Essential).
-
Experience in aviation fuel management support functions (Essential).
-
Experience with Jeppesen software (Advantageous).
-
Experience working with an Operations Control System (OCS) (Advantageous).
-
Previous aviation industry experience (Beneficial).
-
Willingness to work overtime when required.
