Job Description

The Junior Buyer supports the procurement function by assisting with the sourcing, purchasing, and management of Aircraft and Non-Aircraft items. The role ensures efficient replenishment of stock, supplier coordination, cost tracking, and accurate reporting while maintaining FlySafair’s safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the procurement of Aircraft and Non-Aircraft items, including ad-hoc requirements

  • Support purchasing and replenishment of stock items, commodities, and services from local and international suppliers

  • Coordinate the return of unserviceable units to approved suppliers for repair

  • Assist with tooling procurement and repair processes

  • Track and report monthly cost savings

  • Resolve supplier invoice queries in collaboration with relevant stakeholders

  • Follow up on purchase orders daily and escalate issues when required

  • Provide weekly updates on outstanding orders

  • Generate bi-weekly reports on open requisitions and close those no longer required

  • Assist with supplier price comparisons and proposal evaluations

  • Support negotiations on pricing, trade terms, and discount structures

  • Ensure safety remains a priority across all procurement activities

Job Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent

  • Degree or Diploma in Procurement or a related field

  • 1–3 years of purchasing or procurement experience

  • Experience working with ERP systems

  • Aviation procurement experience is advantageous

  • Strong knowledge of procurement practices and commercial shipping

  • Understanding of potential supply chain disruptions

  • Commercial awareness and cost-conscious mindset

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
