Job Description
The System Supervisor is responsible for managing and supervising all Point of Sale (POS) transactions to ensure accurate processing, effective cash control, and excellent customer satisfaction. The role oversees Cash Office operations, banking activities, and all related POS administrative functions.
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 with at least 5 years’ relevant experience, or a minimum of 10 years’ related work experience
-
Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language

Above-average numerical ability

Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service

Ability to work effectively under pressure

Computer literacy
-
Previous cashier experience
Key Performance Areas
Point of Sale and Customer Service
-
Ensure all POS transactions, including credit and debit card payments, are processed efficiently and accurately
-
Assist customers through clear, professional, and friendly communication
-
Resolve customer requests, queries, and complaints, or escalate when necessary
-
Deliver fast, friendly, and efficient service at all times
-
Control and manage the availability of stationery and consumables within the store
Cash Handling and Banking
-
Control and manage store floats, including petty cash, till floats, and change floats
-
Order, dispense, and control change
-
Balance and record petty cash expenses and vouchers in the petty cash ledger
-
Process back-office transactions and cash up all cashiers and back-office tills
-
Ensure all customer returns are valid and processed correctly
-
Manage cash clearances and resolve discrepancies promptly
-
Ensure till pick-ups are completed within set parameters
-
Perform end-of-day procedures on all POS terminals
-
Complete daily cash-up on all POS and back-office terminals
-
Ensure a second designated employee is present during cash-in-transit collections
-
Ensure daily takings are collected by the cash-in-transit service provider
Ready for Business

Ensure all Ready for Business processes are implemented and maintained

Ensure cashiers maintain their assigned areas of responsibility

Maintain a neat and organised cash office at all times

Ensure only cash office-related documentation is kept in the cash office and that all filing is accurate and up to date
People Management

Ensure all cashiers are present, available, and properly deployed to assist customers

Ensure trained backup cashiers are available at all times
-
Monitor and ensure completion of daily cashier duties and checklists
-
Schedule cashier shifts, leave, and time off in line with store requirements
-
Provide and coordinate product knowledge training for cashiers in agreement with the Store Manager

Supervise and manage performance of all POS employees
-
Ensure compliance with the company dress code
Safety (OHSA)

Ensure compliance with safety standards and OHSA requirements
Security Awareness

Remain alert to suspicious activities inside and outside the store

Maintain strict password and system security
-
Ensure the cash office is secure at all times

Ensure the cash office door is locked during pick-ups, cash-ups, and cash-in-transit collections

Prevent unauthorised access to the cash office

Ensure safe keys are securely stored

Ensure no unrelated items, stock, or documentation are kept in the cash office
