Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking experienced Store Assistant Managers to support stores across the Midlands and North Coast regions. The role involves assisting the Store Manager with the full operation of the store, leading employees, achieving store targets, managing inventory to meet customer demand, and preparing accurate operational reports through data analysis and reporting.
Minimum Requirements
Essential
-
Grade 12 / Matric
-
Minimum of 5 years’ Retail or FMCG experience across all retail departments, including Receiving, Administration, Cash Office, or Sales Floor Management
-
At least 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role
-
Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with Unisolv, SAP, or QlikView
-
Previous experience using Kronos
-
Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous
-
Relevant Retail or FMCG qualification
Key Responsibilities
-
Manage daily human resource administration, including leave management, working hours, and staff scheduling
-
Oversee performance management processes and ensure personal development plans are implemented
-
Ensure all store orders are completed daily and maintain optimal stock levels
-
Manage stock flow from receiving to sales floor

Coordinate and manage biannual stock takes in conjunction with the Store Admin Manager
-
Monitor and control store shrinkage
-
Handle customer compliments and complaints professionally and timeously
-
Ensure all merchandisers comply with Dis-Chem merchandising standards
-
Plan, implement, and maintain promotional stock and in-store displays
-
Enforce correct labelling, pricing, and layout standards throughout the store
-
Drive and ensure the achievement of all store objectives
Competencies
Essential
-
Strong retail administration and management experience across receiving, administration, capturing, till operations, cash office, stock control, sales floor, and customer service

Excellent command of the English language
-
Basic financial knowledge including GP, mark-up, and VAT
-
Ability to interact effectively with suppliers, management, representatives, and staff
-
Strong analytical, organisational, and time management skills
-
Proven ability to manage, develop, and motivate staff
-
Trustworthy, reliable, and honest
