Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies has opportunities for Store Managers for their Midlands/North Coast stores. You will be responsible for overall store profitability while ensuring compliance with company brand values and operational excellence across all store functions.
Minimum Requirements
Essential
-
Grade 12 / Matric
-
Minimum 5 years’ Retail Store Management experience
-
Computer literate – MS Office
-
Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous
-
Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Management, BCom Degree, Retail Management Diploma, or relevant commercial qualification
-
Minimum 2 years’ experience with Unisolv, SAP, Qlikview, or Kronos
Key Responsibilities
-
Prepare and manage store budgets, allocate funds, and define financial objectives
-
Maintain statistical and financial records and oversee banking functions including deposits and cash management
-
Optimise store profitability and participate in daily operational and sales activities to meet business objectives
-
Monitor pricing, stock control, and expense-related items to ensure adherence to budget and accurate GL account allocation
-
Manage inventory: stock ordering, flow to the sales floor, bi-annual stock takes, shrinkage control, and stock reporting
-
Analyse trends, negative GP values, dormant stock, and take corrective action as required
-
Ensure accurate transaction integrity, manage cashier productivity, service levels, and monitor cash collections
-
Drive sales by achieving targets, coordinating promotions, and maintaining awareness of market trends and competitor activity
-
Maintain store visual merchandising standards, promotional stock, displays, and customer traffic flow
-
Deliver excellent customer service and resolve customer queries, complaints, and satisfaction issues promptly
-
Manage store personnel including recruitment, scheduling, training, mentoring, and development of junior staff and management
-
Oversee performance management systems, workforce management (KRONOS), and ensure adherence to HR policies and procedures
-
Develop business strategies to increase market share, customer traffic, and store profitability
-
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls
Competencies
Essential
-
Retail admin and management experience including receiving, till operations, cash office, and customer service
-
Strong command of English (written and spoken)
-
Basic financial skills – GP, mark-up, VAT
-
Effective interaction with suppliers, staff, and management
-
Strong analytical, time management, and numerical skills
-
Interpersonal and communication skills
-
Proficient in SAP, UNISOLV, SuccessFactors, and MS Office
Advantageous

Basic IR and management training
-
Basic accounting knowledge

Leadership and team development experience
