Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity for a Trainee Manager to join their team. This role is designed to develop future store leaders by providing hands-on experience across all store operations under the guidance and supervision of an experienced Store Manager. The trainee will perform a wide range of retail operational duties, learning to manage inventory, sales, finance, customer service, and human resources.
Minimum Requirements
Essential
-
Grade 12 / Matric
-
Minimum 5 years’ retail experience post training
-
2–3 years’ managerial experience with at least 8 direct reports
-
Front-end Admin Manager experience
-
Retail/FMCG experience
-
ERP, CRM, or ordering system experience
-
KRONOS, SAP, and/or related system experience
-
Willing and able to work retail hours
-
Local travelling required
-
Valid driver’s license and/or own reliable transport
Advantageous

Diploma in Financial, Administration, or relevant 3-year Diploma
Duties and Responsibilities
Inventory Management
-
Process goods in transit, cycle counts, stock takes, and address shrinkage
-
Ensure stock flow efficiency to the sales floor
-
Support ordering of FMCG, Health, and Beauty products to maintain accurate stock levels
Sales Floor & Receiving
-
Assist with planning, implementation, and maintenance of promotional stock displays
-
Maintain labeling, pricing, and layout standards
-
Support goods receiving duties in line with standard operating procedures
-
Ensure transaction integrity for incoming goods receipts and outgoing returns
-
Assist with daily reconciliation of ZMove Packs
Sales Targets
-
Support achievement of store sales targets across all categories
-
Collaborate with heads of departments to meet objectives
-
Assist in executing promotions and coordinating with other stores
-
Monitor market trends and competitor activity
-
Support strategy development to optimize sales, market share, and profitability
Point of Sale Operations & Finance
-
Assist with daily cash-ups, reconciliations, and documentation
-
Support efficient scheduling and operation at point of sale
-
Monitor store expenses and stock adjustments to correct GL accounts
-
Support analysis of financial statements and budget management
-
Assist with transaction integrity, cashier productivity, and overtime control
-
Support internal and external audits
Customer Service
-
Assist with resolving customer complaints and handling compliments
-
Ensure the customer request system is operational
-
Support loyalty program sign-ups and accurate processing of points
-
Provide feedback to customers regarding queries and complaints
HR Process Support

Support people administration including leave, scheduling, and staff files
-
Facilitate HR processes, submissions, and documentation
-
Support workforce management system (KRONOS) transactions
-
Assist with delivery of HR policies and employee training programs
Trainee Programme Adherence

Participate in meetings, workshops, and learning opportunities
-
Complete assigned tasks for on-the-job learning
-
Complete all required learning programs and assessments
-
Maintain and update Portfolio of Evidence and ensure sign-off with Regional Admin Manager

Maintain store housekeeping and cleanliness in accordance with Dis-Chem standards

Adhere to company policies, SOPs, Health & Safety regulations, and uniform standards
