Cashier
Dischem Vacancies is seeking experienced and reliable Cashiers to join their Knysna Mall store. The role involves delivering exceptional point-of-sale service, accurately processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with company policies and security procedures while providing a world-class customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales Support
- Provide professional and friendly service to all customers
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers
- Report customer compliments and complaints to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
- Stay informed about current sales, promotions, and hourly customer turnover targets
Point of Sale Operations
- Accurately process all customer transactions using the Dis-Chem operating system
- Handle payments via cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and other approved methods
- Process loyalty cards, including accelerator partner programs
- Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved by a supervisor
- Facilitate exchanges and returns as authorised
Cash Handling & Security
- Manage cash flow and maintain till accuracy
- Secure cash in drop safes according to company SOPs
- Keep till codes and passwords safe and updated regularly
- Ensure all outgoing stock, items, and prescriptions are scanned and paid for
- Handle daily takings confidentially and in line with management instructions
- Be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to management
Compliance & Risk Control
- Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service, security, and operational procedures
- Ensure a safe environment for colleagues and customers
Minimum Requirements
Essential
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum of 6 months’ cashier or till operation experience
- Computer literate, including MS Office
- Strong numerical skills and attention to accuracy
- Strong command of English, written and spoken
- Basic customer service skills
- Willing and able to work retail hours

- Knowledge of operating cash registers and maintaining cash drawers
- Experience processing sales, refunds, and multiple payment methods
