Main Purpose of the Role

The Senior Manager is responsible for recruiting, leading, and developing high-performing new business and client retention teams. The role focuses on driving sustainable growth by achieving new business acquisition and retention targets, with a key objective of expanding the Gauteng Branch through profitable and client-centric strategies.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Freight Forwarding
  • At least 7 years’ client-facing experience in new business development, trade lanes, or client retention
  • Reliable transport to and from work
  • Valid, unendorsed Code 08 driver’s licence
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally when required

Qualifications

  • Matric (essential)
  • Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, or Logistics Management qualification is advantageous, or equivalent relevant work experience

  • CargoWise One
  • Microsoft Office 365 (Teams, OneNote, Forms)
  • MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive business retention through continuous growth, innovation, and value creation to maintain strong client-centric relationships
  • Lead and manage teams in alignment with company strategy across business units
  • Protect and grow existing profitable clients through structured account management processes
  • Ensure timely implementation of client increases to support sustainable growth
  • Develop and implement industry- and product-specific solutions to position DSV as a market leader
  • Manage team performance against defined metrics to achieve profitable growth and service excellence
  • Recruit, lead, and develop high-performance team members to support service excellence
  • Compile and manage budgets to enable accurate forecasting and effective sales and operational planning
  • Achieve branch growth through new business acquisition and retention targets
  • Lead, coach, and support field sales teams to secure profitable new clients
  • Drive new business acquisition within the Gauteng region
  • Identify market trends and new business opportunities
  • Provide quality leads and support to sales teams
  • Plan and execute prospecting initiatives, campaigns, and sales blitzes in collaboration with trade lane and origin sales teams
  • Support the preparation and delivery of high-quality proposals, tenders, and client presentations
  • Ensure monthly and cumulative sales targets are achieved
  • Compile and oversee weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reports
  • Ensure team compliance with company policies, procedures, and governance standards
  • Monitor and maintain activity levels to support consistent sales performance
  • Build industry and product knowledge to enhance client value and organizational capability
  • Maintain high energy levels, motivate teams, and foster strong team spirit
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure clients remain informed of relevant industry developments
  • Contribute to overall company growth and personal professional development
