Job Description
Truworths is seeking a dedicated Employee Relations Specialist to join our Employee Relations team. The role focuses on ensuring fair and respectful treatment of employees, in line with legal requirements, company values, policies, and objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong employee and labour relations experience and the ability to handle a wide range of employee relations and labour law matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate employee relations matters, prepare investigation reports, and recommend appropriate remedial actions.
- Advise and support Line Management on handling poor performance and misconduct, including preparing and approving charges.
- Assist with disciplinary hearings and support Chairpersons with letters of sanction and findings.
- Support Line Managers in preparing for CCMA cases.
- Provide guidance on Department of Employment and Labour inspections, including BCEA and OHSA compliance.
- Contribute to the development of IR-related policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Collaborate on various Employee Relations projects.
- Manage the anonymous whistleblower process in compliance with relevant legislation.
- Compile weekly, quarterly, and annual reports on employee relations statistics and trends.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources or Industrial Relations.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an IR Specialist or HR Generalist with strong IR experience.
- Experience in the Retail or Service sector is advantageous.

- Solid understanding of labour laws and employee relations best practices.
- Strong investigation, reporting, and advisory skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with management and employees while maintaining confidentiality.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
