Assistant Clothing Manager

Pick n Pay Careers is seeking a dedicated and results-driven Assistant Clothing Manager to join our retail team. This role supports the Store Manager in delivering operational excellence, managing staff, and providing an outstanding customer experience in the clothing department.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent
  • Previous managerial or reliever experience
  • Computer literate (MS Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Teams/Zoom)
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and stocktakes after hours
  • Flexibility to be relocated between stores when required
  • Ability to perform physical, hands-on tasks
  • Completion of required assessments

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Journey:

  • Ensure customer service standards are consistently applied
  • Attend to customer service requests and promote products and services
  • Maintain visual merchandising standards and execute all promotional plans

People Management:

  • Support the Store Manager with ongoing staff management
  • Address employee performance and conduct issues when required
  • Assist with recruitment, training, development, and succession planning
  • Lead and motivate the team to achieve departmental and store goals

Daily Operations, Stock & Risk Management:

  • Open and close the store following security procedures
  • Conduct start and end-of-day reporting and administrative tasks
  • Manage staff scheduling, leave, invoicing, pricing, costs, banking, expense control, and reconciliations in line with company standards
  • Ensure merchandise is received, processed, merchandised, and displayed according to company policy
  • Monitor quality, prevent damage or soiling, and control shrinkage
  • Maintain compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) standards

Sales & Promotions:

  • Drive sales to achieve budget targets and monitor turnover and participation
  • Conduct promotions, implement markdowns, and manage RTCs
