Master Artisan Electro Mechanic – Sasol Careers
Purpose of Job
Lead the maintenance and reliability of electro-mechanical equipment to support production. Ensure adherence to procedures and codes while utilising all available resources to maintain plant, mine, and equipment stability and sustainability.
Key Accountabilities
- Plan, control, and manage maintenance operations to ensure effective execution.
- Maximise task quality, efficiency, and overall equipment utilisation.
- Manage and control costs where budget responsibility is assigned.
- Evaluate abnormalities during emergencies and take corrective action to prevent downtime, equipment damage, or SHE incidents.
- Ensure team compliance with operational and maintenance procedures for both people and plant.
- Optimise maintenance planning to maximise production output.
- Address performance issues, misconduct, disciplinary, and grievance cases promptly.
- Manage team performance and promote awareness of diversity in the workplace.
- Enable artisans to achieve competence for career progression through coaching and technical training.
- Accountable for the practical declaration of competence for employees operating the plant.
- Maintain team motivation, wellness, and adherence to company values.
- Facilitate effective communication within the team, management, and stakeholders.
- Participate in staff selection and recruitment panels for own team.
- Ensure standard operating procedures are applied consistently.
- Ensure compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements.
- Manage certain start-up and shutdown tasks.
- Conduct and participate in Potential Deviation Analysis (PDA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and risk assessments.
- Oversee execution of work permit systems and Task Risk Assessments.
- Ensure compliance with Sasol procedures, policies, legislation, and business processes.
- Manage behaviour-based safety programs and SHERQ processes in own area, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OSHAS 18001 standards.
- Ensure the MOC process is followed and modified plant/maintenance procedures are implemented.
- Ensure availability of resources including raw materials and personnel.
- Ensure understanding of customer requirements and compliance of product/service.
- Ensure smooth shift handovers and effective interaction with supporting activities such as P&SM, technical, and engineering teams.
- Identify inter-departmental synergies and provide input to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Apply new ideas and work methods to continuously improve results and manage resistance to change.
- Support technical projects and facilitate staff training and development for change initiatives.
- Implement organisational change initiatives within own team.
Formal Education
- Grade 12 / N3 with Mathematics, Physical Science, and English
- Trade Certificate (Electro Mechanic)
Working Experience
- 8+ years of relevant experience
