Purpose of Job
Provide coaching and guidance to personnel to develop high-performance teams capable of achieving mining operation targets safely. Execute statutory duties in line with relevant mining regulations.
Key Accountabilities
- Plan, organise, control, and lead daily operations to ensure department KPIs are met, including safe coal production, tons/cm/shift, and equipment availability.
- Monitor downtime, MTTF, MTTR, and adherence to overhaul/maintenance programs.
- Implement operational projects and ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the area of responsibility.
- Ensure adherence to operating principles, legislation, and governance standards.
- Manage availability of spares, equipment, and resources, including oversight of electronic timekeeping systems.
- Analyse failure trends and implement root cause elimination strategies.
- Coordinate departmental planning to support production targets and budgets.
- Control costs to achieve production volumes within budget and deliver against reporting calendars.
- Maintain best-in-class safety performance and continuous improvement of key safety metrics to achieve zero harm, zero fatalities, and LWDCR targets.
- Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and career development for employees.
- Conduct planned task observations, employee engagement, and coaching to build talent and improve departmental performance.
Formal Education
- Grade 12 / N3 with Mathematics, Physical Science, and English
- Valid Driver’s License
Working Experience
- 6+ years of relevant experience
Certifications
- Blasting Certificate (Underground)
- Gas Testing Certificate
- Flameproof Certificate
- First Aid Certificate
- Red Ticket Certification
