Production Support Engineer – Sasol Careers

Purpose of Job
Support daily production operations by analyzing process data, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating with site teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient unit performance. Assist with small projects, improve operating procedures, contribute to cost and performance tracking, and participate in Management of Change (MOC) processes. Develop foundational leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

Key Accountabilities

• Monitor unit performance, analyze trends, and recommend improvements to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency.
• Support troubleshooting of production issues in coordination with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and other site teams.
• Coordinate with Integrated Planning and Business Teams on production plans, feed strategies, and optimization opportunities.
• Identify basic cost-reduction and process-improvement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical support to commercial teams, addressing product specifications and customer inquiries.
• Participate in MOC processes to ensure safe and compliant implementation of changes.
• Support root-cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for equipment or process issues.
• Track and enforce key Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) requirements within the unit.
• Develop leadership skills by learning site policies, supporting frontline teams, and strengthening communication with Operations.

Formal Education

• University Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering

Working Experience

• 3+ years of relevant experience

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for data interpretation, issue diagnosis, and technical recommendations.
• Effective verbal and written communication with Operations, Maintenance, and leadership.
• Solid organizational and time-management skills to prioritize tasks and manage responsibilities safely and efficiently.
• High safety awareness and commitment to promoting safe work practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively and build productive relationships across site functions.
