Job Description
The Cashier is responsible for accurately handling all Point of Sale (POS) transactions and related documentation, ensuring that no goods or stock leave the store without payment and that Customers receive efficient, friendly service.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience
- Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language
- Strong numeric and basic calculation skills
- Strong administration skills
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Ability to work under pressure
Key Performance Areas
Cash Handling
- Ensure all cash, floats, and petty cash balance with no shortages or overages
- Accurately identify and capture goods on the POS terminal
- Process the correct payment type received from Customers
- Maintain sufficient change at all times
- Complete pick-ups and cash-ups accurately within set parameters
- Deposit daily takings into the Drop Safe or vault
- Accurately process transactions relating to other stores, deliveries, and quotes
Administration
- Sign, compile, and file all documentation related to cashier functions
Ready for Business
- Adhere to Ready for Business and Beyond My Control processes according to the Cashbuild Way
Customer Service
- Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service at the POS
- Direct Customers to the appropriate personnel when needed
- Maintain adherence to the company dress code
Safety (OHSA) Requirements
- Comply with OHSA safety standards to ensure Customer and staff safety
- Report any safety discrepancies to the Store Manager
Security Awareness
- Maintain system password control at the POS
- Ensure safe handling and transport of cash in accordance with Cashbuild Way
