Job Description
The Perpetual Inventory Controller is responsible for performing physical cycle stock counts and validating system stock on hand. This role focuses on identifying, reconciling, and investigating stock variances, as well as reporting damaged stock, incorrect pricing, and SKU discrepancies to maintain accurate inventory records.
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12 with one year relevant work experience, or two years related experience
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language
- Literate with strong numerical skills
- High level of accuracy and ability to work under pressure
- Basic computer literacy
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
Key Performance Areas
Perpetual Inventory Counts
- Conduct daily stock counts in accordance with the PIC count cycle
- Investigate all positive and negative variances and report outcomes to the Store Manager
- Investigate and correct negative stock quantities daily with Store Manager approval
- Identify and report damaged stock to the Store Manager
- Perform mini stock-takes as instructed by management
- Support wall-to-wall stock-take preparations and report areas of concern
- Complete standard PIC counts during full stock-takes
Reporting
- Report daily variances to the Store Manager or Divisional Manager in line with the Cashbuild Way
- Report all irregularities to Store Management or the Divisional Manager as required
- Escalate unresolved issues to the Divisional Manager when necessary
- Report incorrect pricing, poor-quality pricing, SKU discrepancies, and damaged stock
- Report poor merchandising practices in racking and bulk areas
- Highlight bulk stock areas requiring special attention
PIC Adjustments
- Ensure all inventory adjustments are processed, verified for accuracy, and approved by management
- Validate the End of Day Report against the previous PIC Adjustment Sheet and file accordingly
- Report any outstanding adjustments not completed on the day of the count cycle before close of trade
Filing and Administration
- Ensure all PIC documentation is accurately completed, signed off, approved by the Store Manager, and filed daily
Ready for Business
- Adhere to Ready for Business and Beyond My Control standards in line with the Cashbuild Way
Customer Service
- Comply with the Cashbuild dress code at all times
- Ensure name badge is visible and presentable to customers
- Provide immediate assistance with customer complaints
Safety (OHSA) Requirements
- Ensure compliance with safety standards within the area of responsibility
- Promote customer and staff safety at all times
- Report any safety or operational discrepancies to the Store Manager
- Ensure correct safety equipment and protective clothing are used
