Durban University of Technology (DUT), in partnership with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), invites applications for the nGAP Lecturer position in Clinical Technology. This initiative is part of Phase 10 of the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP), designed to attract and develop aspiring academics while supporting them to pursue a Doctoral qualification. Salary: Negotiable up to R514 773,90
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Clinical Technology or equivalent.
- Registration with HPCSA as a graduate in Neurophysiology, Reproductive Biology, or Cardiovascular for at least 3 years.
- Driver’s licence.
- Minimum aggregate of 70% in Master’s academic record.
- South African citizen under the age of 40.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- HPCSA registration as an independent practitioner in Clinical Technology.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Experience in e-learning and digital teaching platforms.
- Research, writing, and communication proficiency.
- Motivated, accountable, and a collaborative team player.
- Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet, and email.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and deliver learning materials to undergraduate and postgraduate Clinical Technology students.
- Supervise, train, and assess students in Clinical Technology programs.
- Conduct assessments and manage administrative tasks related to teaching and learning.
- Facilitate learning through both traditional and online platforms.
- Engage in research, publications, and community outreach.
- Collaborate with colleagues to achieve departmental, faculty, and institutional goals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
Conditions of Employment:
- Commitment to full participation in the 8-year nGAP programme.
- Registration for Doctoral studies within 3 months of appointment, if not already completed.
- Close collaboration with assigned supervisors and mentors, adhering to study plans and milestones.
- Participation in the SSAUF Development Programme and related short courses/modules annually.
- Compliance with funding regulations and reporting any additional funding sources.
- Reimbursement obligations if leaving the nGAP programme before completion, including tuition, mentorship, infrastructure, and conference costs.
- Participation in research, monitoring, evaluation, and exit interviews associated with the nGAP programme.
