Senior Firefighter

About the Role:
Fidelity Vacancies is seeking a skilled Senior Firefighter to respond to fire-related incidents, provide emergency rescue services, render basic medical care, and support fire prevention and training initiatives. The role involves operating and maintaining firefighting equipment and protecting the lives and property of clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond to fires, rescues, hazardous substance incidents, and emergency or non-emergency humanitarian situations
• Extricate and provide emergency care to casualties as directed
• Operate a range of firefighting equipment and vehicles, including heavy and specialized appliances
• Undertake fire protection duties to safeguard lives and property
• Participate in training drills, simulation exercises, and physical fitness programs
• Train relevant employees in fire safety theory and practice
• Advise on preventative and corrective actions to mitigate fire risks
• Perform basic maintenance on firefighting equipment and vehicles
• Complete computerized occurrence logs and all required administrative documentation
• Conduct health and safety inspections to ensure a safe work environment
• Assist with fire safety training, life safety education, and inspection programs
• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and departmental policies
• Supervise and support team members during operations and training activities

Qualifications & Experience:

• Grade 12 (minimum)
• IFSAC Accredited
• NFPA 1001 Firefighter II Certification
• At least 2–3 years of relevant firefighting experience
• Valid Code C1 driver’s license with PrDP; advanced driving experience advantageous
• Medically and physically fit
• Knowledge of fire prevention procedures and firefighting systems
• Hazmat experience essential
• EMT Certification, First Aid Levels 1–3, or Basic Ambulance Attendant training
• Clear criminal record

Core Competencies:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Solid understanding of Hazmat guidelines and procedures
• Knowledge of the security industry, relevant codes of conduct, and regulatory requirements
• Competence in firefighter instructor applications and operational firefighting roles
• Effective administration, interpersonal, and customer liaison skills
• Ability to respond efficiently in emergency situations
