About the Program:

Job Description
The Retail Finance Manager is responsible for ensuring budgeted profit targets are achieved by planning, directing, and coordinating financial support for store operations. The role focuses on improving operational efficiencies, optimising the cost base, and enhancing store profitability.

Job Objectives

  • Align store budgets with overall business objectives.
  • Monitor store profit budgets, identify risks and opportunities, and implement corrective actions in collaboration with store operations and divisional teams.
  • Review store financial performance indicators, highlight exceptions, and recommend improvements to drive profitability.
  • Lead the forecasting process to ensure detailed forecasts align with high-level financial targets.
  • Identify, define, and deliver cost-saving opportunities.
  • Conduct financial analysis on any aspect of the income statement to improve divisional performance.
  • Oversee month-end journal processing and review.
  • Manage the preparation and execution of month-end reports for business partners and stakeholders.
  • Administer the end-to-end quarterly stores incentive payout process.
  • Identify and manage business risks through monthly balance sheet reconciliation and review.
  • Manage new store budgets, allocations, and risk tracking as part of the 3-year sales build.
  • Prepare weekly store performance updates.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • CA (SA) or CIMA qualification.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant finance experience, preferably in the retail sector.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Highly analytical with strong financial acumen.
  • Advanced IT skills including Excel; familiarity with ERP systems and business analysis tools (SQL, Tableau, or Power BI is a plus).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Flexible, team-oriented, self-motivated, and able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
