Main Purpose of the Role
The Logistics Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, and implementing efficient warehousing and production logistics solutions. This role plays a key part in identifying, analyzing, and developing value-driven solutions for both existing and prospective customers. The position supports Warehouse Management System (WMS) implementations while acting as a critical link between operations, clients, and system vendors to ensure optimal system performance and alignment with business objectives.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field (advantageous)
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications
Additional Computer Skills
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems, preferably JDA Dispatcher (Red Prairie)
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year experience in logistics, supply chain, warehousing, or related business environments
- Valid driver’s license with own reliable transport
- Willingness and ability to travel locally and internationally
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to multitask and apply effective problem-solving techniques
Added Advantages
- Experience working within logistics or supply chain environments
- Exposure to WMS platforms such as Blue Yonder Dispatcher, JDA, or Red Prairie
- Knowledge of industrial engineering and business analysis principles
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or CIP
- Understanding of production logistics, warehousing, and FMCG operations
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Power Suite skills
- Basic database knowledge and data analysis capabilities
- Exposure to robotic process automation
- Experience in warehouse process optimization and gap analysis
- Knowledge of industry best practices, including WERC and SCOR frameworks
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in WMS implementation projects from initiation through to completion
- Conduct warehouse process analysis and identify optimization opportunities
- Perform process gap analysis and recommend improvements
- Develop and maintain implementation documentation
- Design WMS modifications and map system interfaces
- Manage data setup, data building, and data loading processes
- Configure systems and support system modifications
- Conduct system, interface, and business readiness testing
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing enhancements in operational and system processes
- Support existing WMS implementations and assess current system performance
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery
- Apply logistics and system knowledge to support solution development, sales processes, and implementations
- Travel as required to support business objectives and project delivery
