Job Description
Dis-Chem is seeking a qualified Clinic Nurse Practitioner to join their team at Westown Square. The role involves managing and operating a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic within a pharmacy, providing care in line with the scope of practice of a registered nursing practitioner.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 – Matric
- Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
- Degree/Diploma in Midwifery
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- BHF registration for nursing practitioners
- 2–3 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
- Computer proficiency: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Advantageous:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
- Familiarity with Patient Record Systems, CKS, and Allegra
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Clinic Nurse Practitioner duties according to industry regulations and best practices
- Manage patient flow and clinic objectives to optimize service delivery
- Ensure all clinic services are consistently available
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper follow-up
- Keep the clinic open and operational according to scheduled hours
- Process claims accurately and on time
- Ensure clinic stock and equipment are maintained and in working order
- Monitor inventory levels to meet business requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, colleagues, store and dispensary management, medical aids, suppliers, and community healthcare stakeholders
Competencies
Essential:
- Knowledge of community health nursing, primary health care, occupational health, family planning, cytology, IUD insertion, pharmacology, immunisation (EPI/cold chain management), STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, and wound care
- Participate in quarterly CPD training and in-service training with Dis-Chem
- Strong written and oral English communication skills
- Understanding of financial implications related to clinic targets
- Analytical skills to assess clinic statistics and performance
- Emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial mindset, trustworthy and honest
- Ability to manage self and team effectively; self-motivated
- Time management skills
Advantageous:
- Bilingual
- Knowledge of business objectives
- Training or certification in baby immunisation, family planning, primary health care, breastfeeding, and disease management
Special Conditions of Employment:
- Willing to work retail hours
- Physically fit to manage a Primary Health Care Clinic
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transport
