Job Purpose
The Store Manager is responsible for protecting and growing profitable market share within the store, ensuring alignment with store, divisional, and company strategies while driving sales, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
Requirements
-
Grade 12 with 3–5 years’ retail management experience
-
Strong business acumen and leadership skills
-
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
-
Basic computer literacy
-
Strong administrative and HR management skills
-
Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations (OHSA)
-
Attention to detail
-
Own transport and valid driver’s license preferred

Own cell phone
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Management
-
Develop, implement, and manage the store’s strategic plan in line with divisional initiatives
-
Monitor performance against objectives and adjust strategies as required
Market Share Growth
-
Drive sales, transactions, and market share as defined in the budget
-
Achieve growth objectives and sales targets
-
Promote customer loyalty programs and third-party credit options
-
Implement action plans to protect and expand market share against competitors

Ensure store business plans are maintained and updated
Customer Service

Implement and monitor the customer service strategy within the store
-
Ensure efficient delivery services and maintain VIC and charge card client base
-
Recommend product range improvements to suit the market
Asset Control
-
Manage shrinkage and protect store assets including cash, stock, and fixed assets
-
Monitor debtors and recommend security enhancements
-
Ensure all physical security measures are in place and maintained
Compliance and Licenses
-
Ensure all trade licenses are current and renewed on time
-
Maintain compliance with all OHSA and local legislation
Human Resource Management
-
Manage manpower in line with company and divisional strategy
-
Ensure succession planning and career pathing within the store
-
Maintain open communication with staff and Employee Forum
-
Oversee training, development, and employee relations
Store Standards and Operations
-
Conduct daily floor walks and ensure compliance with company standards
-
Maintain housekeeping, merchandising, lighting, and store presentation
-
Monitor implementation of planograms and Ready for Business standards
Stock Management
-
Ensure stock ordering, receipt, and clearance aligns with policy
-
Manage damaged, obsolete, slow-moving, and excess stock
Safety and OHSA Compliance
-
Oversee safety standards and ensure completion of required checklists
-
Appoint OHSA representatives and investigate incidents
Expense and Budget Management
-
Manage store operations within budget and financial benchmarks
Insurance Claims
-
Report incidents to insurers and manage claim documentation
Management of CB Way

Implement and maintain controls and disciplines as per the CB Way
