Job Description
Truworths, South Africa’s leading fashion retailer, is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager with expertise in retail and contract management. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment, contributing to the development and maintenance of our stores across the region. The position is based at our head office in Cape Town.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and monitor project construction programmes.
• Prepare and oversee project budgets.
• Ensure all stores are built and maintained according to company standards.
• Liaise with developers and project teams to ensure premises meet agreed specifications.
• Survey proposed new sites and provide feedback to the Properties team on leasehold requirements.
• Advise and assist divisions with major repairs and maintenance issues.
• Support the exportation of shopfitting elements from South Africa to other African countries.
• Collaborate with external energy consultants and internal store operations teams on energy conservation initiatives.
• Prepare reports for the Board and relevant committees on energy conservation progress.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant qualifications and matric.
• Minimum of 5 years’ recent experience in retail project management, including managing contractors and sourcing local materials.
• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager.
• Experience with retail and shopfitting projects, including exporting and shipping beyond South Africa.
• Understanding of energy conservation options in a retail environment.

Competencies

• Strong knowledge of retail construction, contracts, and project management.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and liaise effectively with stakeholders.
• Awareness of energy conservation measures suitable for retail stores.
• Practical experience with exporting shopfitting components across borders.
