Casual Merchandiser

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Casual Merchandiser for their Preller Square store in Bloemfontein. This role ensures that Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards are consistently executed while providing exceptional customer service.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Up to 6 months’ retail experience
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Willing and able to work retail hours

Advantageous:

• At least 1 year retail experience

Key Responsibilities

Merchandising & Stock Management

• Restock merchandise to maintain maximum sales and availability
• Store and organize delivered stock or stock pulled from the storeroom efficiently
• Monitor shelf stock to ensure products are within sell-by dates
• Maintain full product ranges on shelves at all times
• Rotate stock regularly using FIFO principles
• Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged or expired stock to management
• Assist with stock counts, stocktaking, and back shopping
• Adhere to Dis-Chem store layout, planograms, and operating standards
• Flatten boxes and organize the storeroom
• Ensure front shop shelves are neat, visible, correctly labeled, and priced
• Build, face up, stock, and maintain merchandising displays
• Assist with loading and off-loading of stock and mark items without barcodes clearly
• Keep up-to-date with new products and promotions

Customer Service

• Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance to all customers
• Follow up on out-of-stock queries and resolve customer stock issues
• Establish professional relationships with customers while maintaining high service standards

Compliance & Safety

• Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times
• Handle merchandise carefully to minimise losses
• Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, SOPs, and health and safety regulations

• Effective engagement with customers, colleagues, and management
• Trustworthy and honest
• Strong time management

Advantageous:

• Bilingual
• Knowledge of merchandising standards and FMCG industry
• Product and category knowledge
• Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for stock management
• Awareness of suspicious or inappropriate behaviour

• Reliable transport and/or reside near the store
• South African citizen
