Forklift Driver – Cashbuild Vacancies

Job Purpose

The Forklift Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating the forklift while providing excellent customer service. This role includes merchandising stock, ensuring correct shelf price labelling, and maintaining housekeeping within the assigned area.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or minimum 1 year of relevant work experience

• Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language

• Basic numeracy skills for accurate calculations

• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays

• Ability to work under pressure

• Physically fit to operate a forklift

• Valid forklift license

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

• Greet and acknowledge Customers, determining their needs

• Provide accurate product advice and assist with queries

• Resolve Customer complaints promptly

• Promote add-on sales, e.g., paint and paint brushes, thinners

• Load Customers’ purchases carefully and efficiently without damage

• Advise Customers on additional services: delivery, glass cutting, plan reading, credit programmes, special orders, trusses, distant ordering, VIC Customer Programme

• Maintain product knowledge certification

• Remain available in the aisle of responsibility

Merchandising Standards

• Merchandising bulk stock safely according to Store layout plans and planograms

• Ensure area of responsibility is fully merchandised and adheres to approved layouts

Housekeeping

• Keep aisles clear of obstacles and ensure safe access for Customers

• Ensure immediate merchandising of received stock

• Maintain correct shelf price labelling

• Complete checklists as required, including canteen and toilet/showers schedules

Ready for Business

• Adhere to Ready for Business and Beyond My Control processes as per the CB Way

Loss Prevention and Security

• Identify and report gaps in displays or suspicious behaviours

• Ensure no products are loaded without proof of purchase or required documentation

Safety (OHSA) Requirements

• Operate forklift safely without overloading equipment or racking

• Wear safety helmet and kidney belt at all times while operating the forklift

• Do not use forklift to lift personnel

• Keep entrances and exits clear of obstacles

• Report forklift faults and schedule maintenance timely

• Wear protective clothing where necessary

• Inspect forklift daily, complete checklist, and report any faults
