About the Role
The Aircraft & Major Modules Records Specialist will oversee the management, inspection, and compliance of aircraft and major module records for the FlySafair fleet. This role ensures accurate documentation, regulatory adherence, and effective coordination with internal and external stakeholders throughout aircraft inductions, lease returns, and maintenance processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and review records for new aircraft and major modules entering the fleet
- Conduct record inspections in line with lease contracts and company requirements
- Compile and manage Open Item Listings for communication with lessors regarding discrepancies
- Liaise with Legal and Asset Management during technical acceptance of aircraft and major modules
- Conduct offsite visits to review physical records and inspect aircraft condition
- Support the compliance team with Certificate of Airworthiness inspections for incoming aircraft
- Coordinate lease returns for major modules, including aircraft and engines
- Work closely with maintenance planners to schedule tasks or checks for inductions and lease returns
- Coordinate physical record requirements with records administrators
- Schedule annual lessor inspections and provide required information to maintenance planners
- Plan aircraft inductions and deliveries in coordination with the planning section
- Compile and distribute work orders to MROs and ensure documentation is current
- Capture ATLRs and component movements for aircraft joining the fleet
- Update logbooks and track aircraft and major module movements in and out of the fleet
- Review completed work orders for accuracy and assist with closing MRO work orders
- Issue CRS and CRMA documentation after maintenance completion
- Ensure compliance with ADs, SBs, EOs, and ASBs
- Maintain knowledge of relevant regulations, policies, and guidelines
- Provide expert advice and guidance to direct reports
- Analyse stakeholder needs and recommend process improvement initiatives
- Foster teamwork, support, and development of direct reports
- Report non-compliance and implement corrective actions to maintain adherence
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Technical Diploma (advantageous)
- Type rating on aircraft operated by FlySafair (advantageous)
- Certificate in maintenance planning (advantageous)
- 8–12 years of aircraft planning or records experience in a mid-size organisation (essential)
- Experience working on B737 aircraft type (advantageous)
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
- Availability to work overtime as required
