About the Program:
Job Description
The Alarm & CCTV Assistant Technician supports the Installations Technician in installing and maintaining alarm, CCTV, intercom, and access control systems. This role involves preparing sites, running cabling, connecting detectors and control panels, and ensuring systems are powered up and tested efficiently.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
- PSIRA registered (Grade C)
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Wireman
- Practical knowledge of electrical/electronic systems advantageous
- Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail
Main Purpose of the Job:
Assist the Installations Technician with all aspects of security system installations, including cabling, drilling, mounting detectors and panels, and walk-testing alarm systems. The role requires the capability to carry out these tasks independently to company standards when necessary.
Key Duties:
- Assist in the installation of alarm, CCTV, intercom, and access control systems
- Remove and replace outdated or faulty equipment at client premises
- Run cabling, drill holes, mount panels, detectors, contacts, lights, and related equipment
- Identify and report equipment or tool limitations to the technician
- Advise on cabling requirements for installations
- Assist with user functions and system handovers
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and client premises after installations
