Assistant Clothing Manager

Pick n Pay Careers is seeking a motivated and results-driven Assistant Clothing Manager to join our retail team. This role supports the Store Manager in driving operational excellence, managing staff, and delivering an exceptional customer experience in the clothing department.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent
  • Previous managerial or reliever experience
  • Computer literate (MS Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Teams/Zoom)
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and after-hours stocktakes
  • Flexibility to be relocated between stores when required
  • Ability to perform hands-on, physical tasks
  • Completion of required assessments

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Experience:

  • Ensure a customer-centric approach and uphold high service standards
  • Attend to customer service requests and promote products and services
  • Maintain visual merchandising standards and execute all promotional plans

People Management:

  • Support the Store Manager in all staff-related functions
  • Manage employee performance and address issues when necessary
  • Assist with recruitment, training, development, and succession planning
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the team to achieve store goals

Daily Operations, Stock & Risk Management:

  • Open and close the store according to company security procedures
  • Conduct start and end-of-day reporting and administrative tasks
  • Manage staff scheduling, leave, invoices, pricing, costs, banking, expense control, and reconciliations
  • Ensure merchandise is received, captured, packed, merchandised, and displayed according to company policy
  • Monitor product quality, control shrinkage, and prevent damage
  • Maintain compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) standards

Sales & Promotions:

  • Drive sales to achieve budget targets and monitor turnover and participation
  • Execute promotions, markdowns, and RTCs
