Boilermaker – Value Logistics
Purpose of the Role
• The Boilermaker is responsible for carrying out fabrication, maintenance, and repair of metal components and structures across the fleet and workshop operations
• Ensure all work is completed to high quality standards, in line with safety regulations and company procedures
• Support operational efficiency by maintaining equipment reliability and structural integrity
Key Responsibilities
Fabrication and Repairs
• Perform fabrication, welding, and repairs on trailers, truck bodies, and related equipment
• Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Cut, shape, assemble, and weld metal components as required
• Repair structural damages and reinforce weakened components
• Ensure all work meets required quality and safety standards
Maintenance
• Conduct routine inspections on fleet equipment and structures
• Identify faults, wear, or damage and carry out necessary repairs
• Perform preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and downtime
• Ensure all welding and fabrication equipment is properly maintained
Breakdown Support
• Respond promptly to breakdowns requiring fabrication or welding support
• Carry out on-site repairs where necessary
• Ensure all breakdown work is completed efficiently and safely
Tools and Equipment
• Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working condition
• Report any defective tools or equipment immediately
• Maintain and store tools correctly after use
• Conduct regular tool inspections as required
Stock and Materials
• Monitor and control usage of welding materials and consumables
• Report shortages and assist with stock control when required
• Ensure proper storage of materials to prevent damage or loss
Housekeeping
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment
• Ensure workshop areas are kept neat at all times
• Properly store equipment and materials after use
Health and Safety
• Follow all health and safety regulations and procedures
• Use correct PPE at all times
• Identify and report hazards, near misses, and incidents immediately
• Ensure safe handling of tools, equipment, and materials
General Responsibilities
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures
• Follow SOPs, training guidelines, and workplace standards
• Maintain discipline in attendance, dress code, and conduct
• Provide support for additional operational requirements when needed
• Be available to work weekends when required
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Relevant Boilermaker qualification or trade certification
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in fabrication and welding within a heavy-duty environment
• Valid Code B Driver’s License
