Branch Manager – Contract Logistics

Main Purpose of the Role
The Branch Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of a contract logistics operation to ensure consistent achievement of budgeted revenue and profitability, full contractual and SLA compliance, strong client relationships, operational excellence, and a safe, compliant, and high-performing work environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Management

Consistently achieve or exceed approved revenue and EBIT budgets

Develop and manage annual budgets with strict cost control, including procurement
-
Ensure accurate, complete, and timely billing aligned to rate cards and billing processes
-
Ensure all revenue is invoiced, collected on time, and fully reconciled
-
Minimise credit notes through proactive and accurate invoicing with quality supporting documentation
Operations Management
-
Lead daily contract logistics operations, ensuring efficiency across inbound, outbound, order fulfilment, returns, and packaging
-
Ensure daily system-to-system stock reconciliation between DSV and client systems with immediate variance investigation and CAPA
-
Maintain stock integrity through audits, cycle counts, wall-to-wall counts, SKU master maintenance, slotting, replenishment strategies, and space optimisation
-
Ensure WMS process integrity with a minimum 90% weekly WMS Health Check score and no aged suspense items
-
Drive productivity, resource planning, and job clocking accuracy

Maintain facility, equipment, and systems to ensure business continuity
Client and Commercial Management

Maintain strong, credible, and trusted relationships with clients to ensure long-term satisfaction and retention

Ensure consistent achievement of agreed SLAs and KPIs, avoiding losses and damage claims

Maintain up-to-date client records, performance reports, meeting minutes, QBRs, renewals, and annual increase documentation

Conduct regular client meetings to review performance, opportunities, risks, and corrective actions

Manage client and supplier contracts, SLAs, and commercial risk effectively
Leadership and People Management

Lead, coach, develop, and performance-manage all employees to drive high morale, productivity, and retention
-
Ensure clear job descriptions, performance metrics, and development plans for all subordinates
-
Maintain a training matrix and promote multi-skilling across teams
-
Implement effective succession planning down to team leader level
-
Apply consistent and fair Industrial Relations practices in line with legislation and company policy
-
Maintain staff recognition initiatives and a culture of accountability and excellence
Compliance, Quality, and Risk
-
Ensure full compliance with company policies, legal requirements, site rules, and local authority regulations
-
Maintain continuous audit readiness across HSE, QMS, and operational standards
-
Manage and uphold ISO standards including ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and related quality systems
-
Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies
-
Ensure site business continuity planning, risk assessments, and incident reporting are current and effective
-
Promote safe work practices and ensure full adherence to OHSA requirements
Reporting and Continuous Improvement

Deliver accurate and timely daily, weekly, monthly, and bi-annual operational and financial reports
-
Track and implement Continuous Improvement Projects focused on productivity, cost reduction, and service excellence

Maintain a culture of operational excellence through 5S, SPQRCE, and on-time performance initiatives
Minimum Job-Related Requirements

Minimum of 7 years’ warehousing experience within supply chain and logistics
-
Extensive hands-on operational knowledge across inbound, outbound, stock management, and returns
-
Strong management capability across planning, organising, leading, controlling, and monitoring
-
Proven problem-solving skills with effective root cause analysis and CAPA implementation
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-
Strong commercial and financial acumen, including P&L understanding and budget management
-
Proven ability to work under pressure, manage conflict, and make sound decisions
-
Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when required
-
Ability to travel and relocate within Gauteng when required
-
Own vehicle and valid driver’s license
-
Previous experience with Adidas South Africa operations will be a strong advantage
Computer and Systems Skills

Advanced working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems and ERP platforms
-
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and reporting
-
Experience with CargoWrite or RedPrairie will be a strong advantage
