Main Purpose of the Role
The Business Development Manager is responsible for acquiring new strategic accounts and maintaining the existing customer base within secure distribution. This role focuses on targeting clients that align with the company’s ideal client and product profiles, implementing strategic accounts for a 12-month period, and ensuring seamless handover to the retention team while achieving revenue growth and business objectives.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in senior key account management and new business sales
- Proven track record in prospecting and securing strategic new business
- Experience achieving new business sales targets consistently
- Tender management experience, including information sourcing, pricing, preparation, and timely submission
- Experience selling secure distribution solutions and presenting to C-level executives
- Ability to maintain and grow an existing client base
- Experience in the implementation of strategic accounts
- Reporting to General Manager on a daily basis, including weekly and monthly updates
Electives / Additional Skills
- Strong understanding of secure distribution and supply chain processes
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Strong business development, problem-solving, and commercial acumen
- Professional conduct and presentation
- Tertiary qualification is advantageous
Computer Packages
- MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Advanced skills in MS Office are beneficial

Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and grow existing clients, achieving monthly and annual retention targets
- Prospect for new business, build a qualified pipeline, and convert leads into sustainable clients
- Manage relationships with existing and new clients, ensuring service excellence
- Prepare monthly billing and financial reports for relevant stakeholders
- Perform general administrative duties daily
- Represent the DSV brand professionally in all interactions
- Analyze sales-related information and provide weekly reports to the Regional New Business Sales Manager
- Maintain and regularly update client data and CRM system
- Conduct competitor and industry analysis and provide ongoing insights
- Manage tender and proposal production, ensuring timely preparation and professional presentation
- Develop sustainable value for customers through innovative solutions
- Ensure all monthly and cumulative sales targets are achieved
- Implement and communicate signed business across relevant stakeholders
- Manage debtor days in line with company requirements
- Foster interdepartmental communication and collaboration for cross-silo solutions
- Ensure all client files comply with company procedures and Quality Management System
- Carry out any additional duties assigned by management
- Achieve expected client call ratio KPI as indicated by management
