Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Cashier for the Cornubia store to deliver world-class service at point of sale. The role ensures accurate processing of customer transactions in line with company policies and standard operating procedures, with zero tolerance for inaccuracies and fraud risk.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Minimum 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations
• Computer literate with MS Office proficiency
• Sound numerical skills
• Strong command of the English language
• Basic customer service skills
• Willing and able to work retail hours

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver service in line with customer service policies and procedures
• Build professional relationships with customers
• Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
• Meet customer turnover hourly rate targets
• Stay informed on current sales and promotions
• Maintain a safe environment for colleagues and customers
• Apply 5-star communication principles at all times
• Take responsibility for accurate cash handling and cash flow
• Ensure line voids and price changes are authorised and signed off by a supervisor
• Process exchanges and returns when authorised
• Accurately transact all purchases and process payments, including cash, bank cards, vouchers, and coupons
• Process loyalty cards and partner rewards programmes
• Place cash in the drop safe in line with standard operating procedures
• Safeguard personal system access codes and passwords
• Ensure all outgoing items are scanned and paid for
• Secure all cash within the till at all times
• Handle daily takings confidentially and liaise only with management
• Remain vigilant and report suspicious behaviour to management
• Address customer queries regarding store merchandise
• Adhere to all security policies and procedures
