Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Civil and Structural Engineer to ensure efficient and competent designs, producing accurate documentation for successful project execution.
Project Life Cycle
- Develop discipline-specific strategies and design criteria tailored to project and client requirements.
- Adhere to project timelines and ensure planning activities are monitored and updated for timely deliverables.
- Attend project meetings and provide regular status reports.
- Generate post-project feedback for continuous improvement.
Design Responsibilities
- Produce cost-effective, safe civil and structural designs for tenders and projects.
- Compare project vs. tender scopes and review design alternatives for cost efficiency.
- Prepare quantity and man-hour budgets, working within defined scopes and budgets.
- Monitor scope changes and ensure compliance with budget and authorization processes.
- Verify and utilize civil/structural engineering software, ensuring awareness of limitations.
Administration & Documentation
- Maintain organized records for calculations, correspondence, and technical data.
- Ensure proper indexing, referencing, and documentation of design criteria.
Client & Stakeholder Relations
- Collaborate effectively with the Drawing Office and other departments.
- Provide engineering, safety, and ergonomic guidance during design phases.
- Review and approve construction drawings and support suppliers and subcontractors.
- Coordinate inter-departmental communication and deliverables.
Compliance & Standards
- Adhere to company specifications, industry codes, and statutory regulations.
- Apply global safety, health, and environmental (SHE) standards.
- Follow QA procedures, participate in audits, and monitor vendor/site quality.
- Ensure compliance with internal Project Management Operating Systems and engineering standards.
Continuous Improvement
- Propose enhancements to internal procedures and technological solutions based on project needs.
Qualifications
Education & Professional Registration
- B.Sc. / B.Eng. or B.Tech in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional registration as an engineer or eligibility within 12-24 months of joining.
Skills & Experience
- 2-5+ years in engineering design and project management, preferably in processing or petrochemical plants.
- Project management knowledge covering all lifecycle phases.
- Expertise in civil/structural design criteria and plant layout development.
- Familiarity with commercial contracts, procurement, and cost estimation.
- Proficiency in technical documentation, materials science, and dynamic structure design.
- Experience with construction, commissioning, and failure investigations.
- Strong IT skills (Office tools, CAE software like PROKON and Strand7).
- Knowledge of industry legislation, standards, and quality engineering practices.
- Ability to innovate and adapt to evolving project requirements.
