Job Overview
Dis-Chem Vacancies is seeking a qualified and experienced Clinic Nurse Practitioner to manage and operate a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic within a pharmacy environment. The role focuses on delivering high-quality patient care while ensuring smooth clinic operations in accordance with professional nursing standards.
Minimum Requirements
Essential
• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
• Degree/Diploma in Midwifery
• Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
• Clinic Nurse Practitioner must obtain BHF registration
• 2–3 years’ experience practicing in a Primary Health Care clinic
• Computer literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Advantageous
• 5+ years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Nurse Practitioner
• Experience with Patient Record Systems, CKS, and Allegra
Key Responsibilities
• Perform all Clinic Nurse Practitioner duties in line with industry regulations and best practices
• Manage patient flow and clinic objectives to optimize service delivery
• Ensure all clinic services are available and operational
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure timely communication and follow-ups
• Ensure the clinic operates according to stated operational hours
• Process medical aid claims accurately and within required timeframes
• Maintain clinic stock and ensure all equipment is functional and compliant
• Monitor and maintain sufficient stock levels to meet business needs
• Build and maintain professional relationships with patients, store and dispensary management, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, and community healthcare stakeholders
Competencies
Essential
• Strong knowledge of community health nursing, primary health care, occupational health nursing, family planning, cytology, IUDs, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS pre- and post-counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, and wound care
• Commitment to quarterly CPD training and in-service training with Dis-Chem
• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
• Understanding of financial impact of clinic performance and monthly targets
• Strong analytical skills for monthly clinic statistics and commission monitoring
• High emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial flair, trustworthy and honest
• Ability to manage self and team effectively; self-directed and motivated
• Excellent time management
Advantageous
• Bilingual communication skills
• Knowledge of business objectives within a retail healthcare environment
• Certifications in Baby Immunisation, Family Planning, Primary Health Care, Breastfeeding, and Disease Management
