Job Overview
Dis-Chem is seeking a Clinic Nurse Practitioner to join their team in Berea, East London. The role is responsible for managing and operating a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic within the pharmacy, delivering patient care in accordance with the scope of practice of a registered nursing practitioner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all clinic duties in line with industry regulations and best practices

  • Manage clinic objectives and patient flow to enhance service efficiency

  • Ensure all clinic services are available and operational according to set hours

  • Maintain accurate patient records and follow up on communications

  • Process claims accurately and promptly in line with industry standards

  • Maintain clinic stock and equipment in optimal working condition

  • Ensure adequate stock levels in the clinic to meet business needs

  • Build and maintain professional relationships with patients, staff, medical aids, suppliers, and community healthcare stakeholders

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric

  • Tertiary qualification in General Nursing

  • Degree/Diploma in Midwifery

  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)

  • BHF registration for nursing practitioners

  • 2–3 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister

  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Advantageous

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Sister

  • Knowledge of Patient Record Systems, CKS, and Allegra

Competencies

  • Expertise in community health nursing, primary health care, occupational health, family planning, cytology, IUD, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, and wound care

  • Strong command of English (written and oral)

  • Analytical skills to interpret monthly clinic statistics and financial targets

  • Emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial mindset, trustworthiness, and honesty

  • Ability to manage self and team, self-motivated, and time-efficient

Advantageous Competencies

  • Bilingual communication skills

  • Knowledge of business objectives

  • Completion of courses such as Baby Immunisation, Family Planning, Primary Health Care, Breastfeeding, and Disease Management

Special Conditions of Employment

  • Willing and able to work retail hours

  • Physically fit to manage a Primary Health Care Clinic

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transport

  • South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records
