Job Overview
The Commercial & Marketing Finance Controller plays a critical role in Finance Business Partnering for the Commercial and Marketing teams. This position is a key member of the Topline leadership team, responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth and financial discipline. The role focuses on Gross to Net Improvement, Innovation and Renovation business case development, optimization of Return on Marketing Investment (ROMI), and delivering accurate and insightful Topline forecasting. The Commercial & Marketing Finance Controller also contributes to strong corporate governance across the Topline function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary finance business partner to Commercial and Marketing teams

  • Drive the Gross to Net Improvement agenda to support profitable growth

  • Lead financial evaluation and development of Innovation and Renovation business cases

  • Optimize and track Return on Marketing Investment (ROMI) within A&P spend

  • Ensure accurate, timely, and reliable Topline forecasting and reporting

  • Provide strategic financial insights to support decision-making and performance management

  • Lead selected Topline initiatives while supporting overall corporate governance requirements

  • Develop and coach finance team members to build future-ready talent

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Commerce degree

  • CIMA or CA(SA) qualification is advantageous

  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience within an FMCG environment

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a Finance Business Partnering leadership role

Experience and Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders

  • Proven people management capability and ability to manage expectations effectively

  • Demonstrated ability to develop junior talent for future roles

  • High level of computer literacy and strong attention to detail

  • Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities

  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to evaluate commercial decisions

  • Advanced analytical, interpretative, and investigative skills

  • Information systems–oriented mindset

  • High levels of drive, ambition, and willingness to learn

  • Solid SAP experience, particularly within FI, CO, and MM modules
