Senior Commercial Underwriter – Hire Resolve
Job Summary
Hire Resolve is excited to partner with an established and reputable insurance company seeking a skilled Senior Commercial Underwriter to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing complex commercial risks, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines, and fostering strong broker relationships to drive portfolio growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and underwrite new and existing commercial insurance business within authorized limits.
- Manage binder agreements and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Evaluate risk profiles, claims history, and loss ratios to determine terms, premiums, and coverage.
- Prepare and present quotations, renewals, and alternative cover options to brokers.
- Optimize portfolio performance for profitability and sustainable growth.
- Strengthen broker relationships through responsive service and professional engagement.
- Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, regulatory standards, and best practices.
- Utilize Cardinal 360 for policy processing and portfolio management.
- Identify cross-selling and business development opportunities.
- Contribute to underwriting process improvements.
Requirements
- Regulatory Examination 5 (RE5) – Essential
- NQF Level 5 in Short-Term Insurance – Essential
- 5+ years of commercial underwriting experience, including complex risks and large accounts.
- Binder experience – Essential
- Proficiency in Cardinal 360 – Essential
- Strong technical knowledge of commercial insurance products and policy wording.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to manage broker relationships effectively.
